* In the dark – Teaser *

Excited to share a teaser for my contemporary romance In the dark, coming soon!!

Momma has been putting in work! Can you tell? Comment below on what you think of this little teaser and stay tuned!!! I cannot wait to finish writing, edit, edit, edit some more and then publish!

Squeezing this baby in between cooking, kids, errands and everything else in my life has been trying but so rewarding at the same time. To see the number grow with every word I type or rereading and getting exciting about a scene. I mean the late nights eventually get to me and I have had to ignore the laptop for a few nights to catch up on sleep. The laundry might have backed up and someone ran out of clean underwear but like I said before, MOMMA HAS BEEN PUTTING IN WORK!

I just cannot wait to see where these characters take me. I know this little teaser is a little premature as the book isn’t done yet but I received some advice about getting teasers out to hook future readers in, so that is what I am doing.

HOPING TO REEL YOU IN. Let me know if it worked!

Happy writing!

Chase down your passion like it’s the last bus of the night

17,679 words in and it is getting so good! The story has taken a completely different path then what I thought and wasted my time outlining. Turns out I am a “Panster” as in I write by the seat of my pants. At the beginning of this journey, and after countless “what do other writers do” google searches, I outlined my story. I hoped it would help me stay on track and not lose focus of the story but somewhere along the way the scenes played on in my head and when I was all done writing and checked my notes it was so not where it was supposed to go. BUT I like where it’s going! Once I sit and write and the words are flowing it’s like I’m front row at the movie theater. I’m sitting there with a stupid grin on my face in the kitchen, jamming to Pandora all by my damn self, having a fantastic time and sometimes yelling out at my characters, “Who the hell is that” “Oh damn” and “Yaasss”.

Can you tell how much fun I’m having?

I really am. I wish I would have done this years ago but then again I don’t know where I would have fit this into breastfeeding, potty training, and juggling after-school activities with the firstborn. Today they are a little more independent and as stressful as life can get, now I’m getting a solid FIVE hours of sleep, at least. Unless I stay up writing then who needs sleep when you’re chasing a dream right?

What genre do you enjoy reading the most? I think Cravings is leaning towards Romantic Suspense.

If there are any other authors or aspiring authors reading I would LOVE to hear from you? Are you a panster or a plotter?

*Looking forward to sharing more of In the Dark with you. For now, the last scene inspired this.

Thank you for reading.

Over 10,000 words in! There is no going back now.

I am really doing this! Des A. Scott (pen name by the way) was something I had NO IDEA I needed but I am so glad I finally had the nerve to bring her out and express herself in writing. I have kept this voice in the dark for so long but now she is out with eager fingers ready to type away at all the hours in the dark or in between naps or while cooking dinner. Now we have reached this milestone. 11,303 words written in this work in progress that I hope to publish. I don’t know the rules but I’m sure over 10,000 words in a month is probably no milestone, I don’t care.

I squeezed it into my busy days and sleepless nights and gave life to a story that started with just a quote and a picture of a girl in my head. Next thing I know she has a life, a first kiss, conflicts. It’s like a movie playing in my head and I can’t type fast enough before I get distracted by the kids, life, or the need for sleep.

*I hope you stay tuned for future excerpts from In the Dark *

After writing the first kiss scene last night these words were on replay over and over in my head and then I discovered Canva.com, thanks to a quick google search of course. It’s an easy to use graphic design website with some great templates for anything you want to create. From a facebook cover, flyers, Instagram or Tumblr posts, BOOK COVERS and so much more. It’s a great tool to give whatever idea you have a beautiful and professional design. Best part it’s FREE. (I’m the if it’s free, it’s for me kinda girl) There are plans with monthly payments that give you access to more but we don’t need all that. Just sharing whatever I find on the way here. So what do you think? Future promo art? Comment what you think. I would love any and all feedback.

We’ve got chapters!

I’m on chapter THREE! I can’t stop smiling at the fact that I have written two whole chapters. Not very long ones but I am loving the flow of this story so far. Like three little milestones getting me closer and closer to completion and then the fun part. EDITING! Typing each number large, bold and underlined was almost as satisfying as my second cup of coffee this morning.

So here is an unedited snippet of of Chapter 1! I’m going to be 100% honest here, my brain is yelling at me to not post this but I am going to ignore the voice in my head.
